When we had found out the pulmonary function test referral had fallen through, we immediately made an appointment with the new doctor, Dr. S, for October 31st.
At this appointment, Dr. Sexplained a lot of things to us, differentiated between a diagnosis of asthma and diagnosis of bronchitis.
So, it’s a yes, I have asthma
She went and checked for samples of the new puffer she was going to put me on. She came back with a sample of alvesco, a once-daily inhaled corticosteroid. [ICS therapy brings down the inflammation in the airways causing less symptoms. They work slowly, which is why many asthmatics, like me, have two puffers--one controller, and one "rescue" medication.]
At the time, I was still using the aerochamber with my puffer, and the Alvesco actuator didn’t fit in the chamber. She didn’t have any samples, but perscribed me FloVent–a twice-daily inhaled corticosteroid.
